It produces first English editions of culturally and historically significant texts for foundations, corporate heritage archives, museums, and university presses, with defensibility, voice fidelity, and scholarly rigor as primary quality criteria.
The studio's methodology pairs multi-model parallel translation with structured human consolidation and final editorial review. Each consequential decision — terminology, register, source reading, leitmotif tracking — is logged. Each commission produces a publication-ready manuscript and a complete methodology trail. The trail is part of the deliverable because it is what foundation boards, scholarly reviewers, and institutional partners need to defend the work internally.
The studio is structured as a small specialist atelier rather than a translation agency. It accepts bounded commissions, names the editorial principal directly to the client during the engagement, and does not subcontract to anonymous freelancers.
The studio is not a translation agency. It is not a hybrid post-editing service. It is not a publishing house — completed manuscripts bear the client's imprint, the client's foreword arrangements, and the client's design choices. It is not a partnership or retainer arrangement. Engagements are commissions: bounded, defined, priced, and delivered. Care continuity after delivery is structural rather than contractual.
Every commission produces a methodology trail as a deliverable. The trail documents terminology decisions, source verification notes, editorial flags, leitmotif tracking, and the studio's use of computational tools within the production process. The trail is the structural answer to the question of how the work is defended to scholars, and it is not optional.
Free audition commissions are standard practice for first-time clients. The audition is produced through the full pipeline. It is the first stage of an engagement structure designed around the client's need for evidence before commitment, not a marketing demonstration.
The studio's pipeline operates across Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, French, German, Danish, and other established language pairs. Foundations contemplating a multi-volume program with mixed-language source material can be served by a single studio across the corpus, with terminology continuity preserved across volumes.

After a commission delivers, the studio remains available for refinement, additional volumes, and publication coordination on the client's pace. There is no retainer, no ongoing fee, no expectation of continued engagement. Clients work directly with the studio's editorial principal during the engagement. The principal is named in client-facing correspondence and contracts, responds to questions and refinement requests personally, and remains the point of contact for additional volumes and standing-client work. There is no account-management layer between the client and the work.
Every engagement has a defined scope, a defined price, and a defined endpoint. Open-ended retainers are not offered. Standing clients return for new commissions; they do not occupy ongoing slots.
